We are pleased to announce that as of Monday 15 June we are launching an updated version of the Mints@Home service. The main objectives of the updated service are to introduce a Windows 7 desktop with Office 2013, and an improved user experience in terms of the performance and reliability.
Anyone who is currently subscribed for the Mints@Home service will be moved over to the new service which can be accessed via https://anywhere.medschl.cam.ac.uk/. The current system will be shut down on Monday 29th June. We recommend that you start using the new system immediately and contact us if you have any issues.
There is a detailed user guide published on our FAQ at https://confluence.medschl.cam.ac.uk/x/KwBl which will guide you through installing the Citrix Receiver software and configuring Firefox, Internet Explorer or mobile devices. We recommend that you install the latest version of the Citrix Receiver when prompted. This will allow your computer to take advantage of new performance features and to enable multi-monitor support.
Mints@Home provides remote access to the applications and data normally have when using your work computer. You can use a variety of programs such as Microsoft Office , Notepad ++ or Putty. You will be able to access internal University websites, the University Financial System (CUFS) and any Library journals. Additionally, with some configuration you can use the Remote Desktop Connection to remote control your computer in the office and run any applications installed on it. Mints@Home is a good solution for colleagues working with the Trust who need to share data or access systems within the Clinical School, but don’t want to have a separate computer on their desk. It costs £4 per month on top of the basic user account charge. As an added benefit, the initial £80 licensing fee no longer applies.
Don’t hesitate to contact the Service Desk if you have any questions.
