Why does CSCS charge for its services?

CSCS is moving towards a self-funding model. This means that the salaries for our staff and the equipment that provide everything from your internet access to your email has to be generated through our service charges. We see this model as encouraging us to be as customer focused as possible. We run a not for profit service, but it is important that we constantly invest to provide our users with a good quality, value for money service.

Mailbox Only	£7.14	£0.00	This is simply a mailbox which allows multiple users to use the same email address to send and receive from as well as have access to the mailbox. The mailbox is provided with 50Gb of storage. Perfect for teams working from a single email address together. In order to use this functionality, each person must already have a CSCS User Account. Once you have provided the names to our Service Desk, the new mailbox will show up within the list of Outlook mail boxes. You will also be able to us the "switch user" function within webmail to see the mailbox. This allows access from anywhere around the world through a web browser.
Remote Access	£7.37	£0.00	Using Citrix technology, Mints@Home provides remote access to the applications and environment you would expect from your work computer: • Accessible from any computer with a web browser and internet access • Access the full Microsoft office suite including E-mail through a full Outlook interface • Access your personal and group data storage drives • Full access to websites you would only normally expect on the University network including UFS (University Financial Service) and Library Journals. • Mints@Home is a good solution for colleagues working with the Trust who need to share data or access systems within the Clinical School, but don’t want to have a separate computer on their desk.
User Account	£5.37	£0.00	A CSCS User account subscription provides the following services: • An e-mail account with 50GB of e-mail storage. This is provided on an Exchange environment which allows users to share mail and calendar, seamlessly integrate external devices such as phones and access their e-mail offsite via webmail • 50GB of network storage space. This provides safe and secure data storage for our users and will be available internally or externally via SFTP • The ability to login to CSCS supported workstations. Please be aware that we register all visitors and staff at the Central Computing Service which provides a CRSID. This then allows access to Raven and is used as the standard username for logging onto CSCS supported workstations. Further details can be obtained from the Service Desk.
Add a Computer to the Support Service	£0.00	£100.00	The one off cost to add a machine to support which was not purchased through CSCS. Once added to support it is on the CSCS domain which provides access to network resources including the use of CSCS user accounts and group drives.

Additional Mailbox Archive Storage	£10.00	£0.00	All CSCS mailboxes are provided with 50GB of storage. If you require more storage then you can apply for a Mail Archive. Mail Archives sit alongside your primary mailbox and are used to store older emails which are accessed less frequently. Mailbox Archives are provisioned in 10GB increments. You can apply for this service multiple times to meet your needs.

Group Drive	£16.00	£0.00	Space is provisioned for use by more than one CSCS user account. The space is provisioned to allow data sharing by CSCS users and/or groups. Security is managed by domain permisisons. Initial storage size is set at 100GB. Additional storage can be provisioned on request.
Large Data Store	£12.36	£0.00	This service provides a research group with an individual data store sized in increments of 1TB. This can be made available as a simple file share, or as a mount to a server (either ISCSI or an NFS or CIFS export/share).

SDHS Group Drive (5GB)	FREE	FREE	When you sign up for the SDHS, a separate network group share will be provided on which to store your studies’ PID. 5GB is provided free by default; extra space is available at £16/month per 100GB if required. CSCS will work with you to move your data to this drive during the initial setup. SDHS Group Drive (50GB)	£16.00	£0.00	Extra space (over 5GB initial allowance) is available for an SDHS group drive that is secured for patient identifiable data (PID)
SDHS Remote Access	£14.00	£0.00	Access to the SDHS is provided via a secure browser-based Virtual Desktop, allowing use from University, NHS or home computers. Data in the SDHS can be viewed and edited from this Virtual Desktop. It is not possible to copy the data to your local computer, and it is not possible to use applications on your computer on the data in the SDHS. Since the sensitive data never leaves the SDHS, no restrictions are placed on your computer. The Virtual Desktop can be made full screen and supports multiple monitors. Microsoft Office 2013 is included, but other applications will need to be requested. The Virtual Desktop session is encrypted, and users require a security token as well as a minimum 15 character password to use the service. There is a £4/month charge for the Virtual Desktop, and a £10/month licensing charge per token.
SDHS Secure Network Connection (Additional to Network Connection)	£7.00	£100.00	Separate SDHS secure VLAN access requiring additional network setup and charges.
Network Connection	£3.91	£0.00	The Network Connection service is available for computers, wireless access points, printers or VoIP telephones. With this service you can expect the following: •At least 100Mb connection for all data devices, 1Gb connections where possible. •All VoIP network is provided with PoE and redundant power supplies to support some electrical outages. •Departmental edge network equipment is replaced by CSCS. *different charges may apply to institutions outside of the School of Clinical Medicine

Computer Support	£10.83	£0.00	Users that have their PC, Mac or Laptop supported by us will receive the following services: • Access to the CSCS network • Troubleshooting, virus removal and software installations • Remote support using remote our remote access software for workstations • Onsite support from our technical support team, including the collection of problematic computers and delivery when work has been completed* • Automatically applies windows updates and anti-virus to ensure security • Maintenance and servicing of your computer in the event of malfunction • If your computer fails whilst supported by us we will provide a loan desktop pc so that you may continue your work whilst repairs are completed (this is subject to availability) • If your computer is in warranty and was purchased through CSCS, we will liaise with the supplier and arrange for a technician to deliver your machine upon completion. We have minimum requirements that all computers being added to the workstation support must meet. If your computer is not signed up for the workstation support service then work carried out will be charged at an hourly rate. If you wish to join your computer to the CSCS network, please contact the Service Desk at servicedesk@medschl.cam.ac.uk to arrange collection of your computer. For computers not purchased through CSCS there is a one off charge to join the network and workstation support. We will need a purchase order before collection. *Please note we do not perform onsite visits to computers not on the CSCS network. Offsite devices can sign up for support but in the event of an incident that cannot be remotely resolved the owner will need to bring the device to the CSCS office for repair.
Printer Support	£7.49	£50.00	With this service you will be provided with a print queue which makes it easier for many users to connect to a single printer. You will also receive general support including troubleshooting printing issues and investigating hardware damage. • A print queue on the server to share one printer to multiple users • Support fixing printing issues • Help sourcing parts and replacements for hardware • A loan mono printer if required • Reports on printer usage For printers not purchased through CSCS there is a one off charge of £50 to join the printer support service.
